How Online Marketing Is Saving The Earth

Posted on December 19, 2015 by Guy Atkinson

People are continuously talking about going green. Schools have gone green and lessened their carbon footprints, and so have numerous other businesses. You have probably done some green things in your business and in your own home as well.

At home and at work people recycle and they purchase energy efficient appliances and electronics, but you may not realize that there are some things that you have been doing that are actually green, in a sense. In fact, if you have started doing the majority of your business marketing online then you already know how to go green in your business.

You may also find that by being more green in more areas you can save more money. Advertising online, through things like social media, can cut costs in advertising. Emailing flyers instead of printing them can also cut costs. And the money you save can be better utilized in ramping up online marketing efforts that could involve taking expert help from the likes of this cannabis marketing california company (if you’re a cannabis business, that is!) and other such companies who can help improve your Internet outreach, potentially eliminating the need for any traditional/paper marketing efforts in the long run.

Killing Less Trees

When you work with print advertising you often use a lot of paper, which leads to the removal of forests, since it takes trees to make paper. The destruction of forests for this purpose leave many animals homeless and may even help with them becoming endangered.

When you start doing your advertising online, instead of buying business cards and printing brochures and flyers, you help lessen the need for trees to get chopped down, which means you are helping oth wildlife and the environment.

Why print things out when you have today’s technology that allows you to save everything online. You can even scan in items to save up space in your office, rather than having a file cabinet full of receipts.

Creating Less Waste

By using digital marketing you are also creating less waste to fill up the landfills. While you can recycling paper, glossy sheets are often not recyclable. That means it makes sense to simply avoid the need for excessive paper usage.

You can use things like Google Drive or Dropbox in order to share documents with your entire time, instead of printing documents. You can also simply use email to communicate this way. Even when you have a report to do in front of a group you don’t need to print anything, just create online documents and use Powerpoint to share photos and other info.

In order to advertise to the masses, without destroying nature, you can use things like social media for your online marketing needs, instead of printing those brochures that most likely just end up in someone’s trash. By advertising online you not only make less waste, but you also have a better chance of reaching far more people.

If you want to be more green, get your business online when it comes to marketing. You’ll not only save money and the environment, but you’ll make less waste and you will reach far more people.

I’ve just re-read Richard Denny’s fantastic book ‘Selling to Win’, in which he mentions a time management technique that I learnt many, many years ago from an old boss of mine.
